Successes and Challenges

The biggest success in this project was the hands on opportunities to connect with the curriculum in an authentic way. This program has been helpful to take the things I have learned and apply them to both my current role as a teacher and any future role I may pursue in Educational Technology. For the Survey of Technology Infrastructure, the biggest success was the willingness of my colleagues to participate. Between interviews with administration and surveys for teachers, I was able to draw on over 150 years of educational experience to help shape my capstone projects in this program. I was fortunate to be in a building working with gracious people willing to answer questions and take time out of their day in a crazy year to help me through this entire process. When preparing my Proposal for Instructional Coaching, I was not only able to work with a couple of teachers on some ideas they would be interested in working on, I was able to connect with one of the instructional coaches in our district to discuss his coaching methods and experience. The biggest success in my Learning Design Solution was working within a district with a calendar favorable to Learning Design. This allowed me to create a hypothetical design solution, leading to the semester long implementation plan

For every milestone, the obvious challenge was the lack of putting each project into practice, which kept each element purely theoretical. As a teacher and coach, I can not understate the importance of actually doing instead of simply attempting the "hypothetical." I know that the lack of hands on experience may be hard to come by, but I feel well equipped to move into a position more focused on Educational Technology.
